Back to Back Weekend

April 29, 2008

Starting Friday night, we’ll be playing double shots of your favorite Classic Rock artists all weekend long. Yes, it’s our first Back to Back Weekend since the sound quality was upped to 128K. Weekend listeners tend to drop in and out, so the playlist will be fairly short, and we’re focusing just on those artists with at least a couple of high rated tracks. Count on hearing more of your favorites, back to back, all weekend long. It’s the B2B Weekend, coming Friday night on SCR!

Tuesday Top Tracks…only your FAVORITES!

April 29, 2008

A very short playlist Tuesday, April 29, including only those songs with at least one thumbs-up listener rating, and none with thumbs-down for at least the past 30 days.  Not that short…204 tracks in all, with no repeats during the workday!  Enjoy your favorites all day in CD quality 128k sound.

Welcome New Listeners!

April 17, 2008

Sunshine Classic Rock was featured somewhere on the Live365 site for about 12 hours yesterday, starting in the early morning hours here on the east coast. I woke up and instead of the normal one or two pre-dawn listeners, there were 20! We were capped out at 40, plus a few VIP’s, until mid afternoon. I looked all over to see where the listeners were coming from and never did find anything. Thanks to the help, we set new daily highs for Simultaneous Listeners (46), station page hits (1093, with 531 streams launched), same-day new pre-sets (12) and Total Listener Hours (441+). So thanks to Live365, we smashed through the 5000 30-day TLH mark with more than 200 to spare, and also cracked the top 500 stations for the first time.

In the six weeks since switching to 128K, we have gone from 3500 TLH to more than 5200 and moved up in overall station rank from 723 to 492. Obviously, Live’s help was a big factor, but as we promote more variety and better sound, the bigger storage space, longer playlist, and higher quality audio seems to be a factor too.

I started this station last July for my wife, who didn’t like the 60’s oldies I was playing on a station hardly anyone was listening to. I asked her what she wanted me to play on “her” new station. She said she wanted to hear rock from the 80’s, with some she liked from the ’70’s. Of course, as PD, I couldn’t resist throwing in a few rock classics from the late 60’s and early 90’s, but whatever I’ve done, the station was her concept, so next time I start a station I will be sure to ask her what to play. Smile

So welcome new listeners…thanks for finding, trying and pre-setting SCR…we look forward to seeing you around here more often now!

Top Tracks Now Playing

April 2, 2008

Starting Thursday, April 3, and running through the weekend, we have a shorter playlist featuring your top-rated classic rock tracks.  If you rated a song thumbs up, chances are good you will hear it while this new playlist is cycling through.  And if you rated a song thumbs down, you probably won’t hear it, unless you got out-voted by other listeners!

And there have been a lot of listeners lately.  Thanks to everyone who’s discovered the better sound and more variety of Sunshine Classic Rock.  (And that’s not to mention the “reel” interesting station breaks!)

Welcome to April!

April 1, 2008

We’re coming up on one month of better sound and more variety, and we appreciate you, the listeners, who have found SCR and made us #14 in the Classic Rock genre at Live365.   You are a big part of what we do here.  Our playlists are constantly tweaked according to your track ratings, so the songs that get your “thumbs up” get played more often, and the “thumbs down” songs get played less.  So please, help us make this YOUR station by letting us know what you like and what you don’t.  Want to be more specific than just thumbs up or down?  Add your thoughts on the SCR playlist to the blog, or send us e-mail (flarrfan@gmail.com).  And thanks again for helping us make this your web home for the best in Classic Rock!
