We have about 800 total songs in the SCR Music Library. At any one time, only about 500 are in the playlist. Most of the rest get circulated in and out of the playlist from time to time, based on listener track ratings. For this weekend, we’ve decided to play everything we’ve got. We can’t guarantee you’ll like everything you hear, but that’s what the track ratings are for. On the other hand, there may be some gems in there that just need the light of day to find an audience. So this weekend, from 6 pm EDT Friday to 6 am on Monday morning, we’re playing our entire 60-hour Music Library playlist, with absolutely no repeat tracks. Feel free to go at us with your ratings, and we’ll see what happens! It’s the SCR no-repeat Music Library weekend. Enjoy!

Opening Up the Music Library
May 16, 2008Playin’ Favorites Weekend
May 9, 2008This weekend we’ve gone through the music library, tabulated your track ratings, and put together a special playlist with only the songs that have gotten recent thumbs up ratings. There are NO songs in the playlist that have been rated thumbs down by any listener in the last 30 days. It’s our effort to make sure the music you hear this weekend on SCR is the music you want to hear. It’s a PLAYIN’ FAVORITES WEEKEND on Sunshine Classic Rock! Enjoy!
Back to Back Weekend
April 29, 2008Starting Friday night, we’ll be playing double shots of your favorite Classic Rock artists all weekend long. Yes, it’s our first Back to Back Weekend since the sound quality was upped to 128K. Weekend listeners tend to drop in and out, so the playlist will be fairly short, and we’re focusing just on those artists with at least a couple of high rated tracks. Count on hearing more of your favorites, back to back, all weekend long. It’s the B2B Weekend, coming Friday night on SCR!
Tuesday Top Tracks…only your FAVORITES!
April 29, 2008A very short playlist Tuesday, April 29, including only those songs with at least one thumbs-up listener rating, and none with thumbs-down for at least the past 30 days. Not that short…204 tracks in all, with no repeats during the workday! Enjoy your favorites all day in CD quality 128k sound.
Back2Back Weekend
February 15, 2008We haven’t done this for a while, so we thought it might be fun to play double shots of your favorite classic rock artists, Back2Back, all weekend long. Enjoy!
Bigger playlist!
February 9, 2008For the next few days, we are streaming the entire Sunshine Classic Rock music library, a playlist almost 40 hours long with NO REPEAT TRACKS! Some of these great songs have not been heard in a month or more on our regular playlists, and with the audience continually growing, we want to make sure everyone has a chance to hear the full library and vote thumbs up or down on your favorite tracks! We’ll be back to our regular playlists of your top-rated tracks next week.
Another Weekend Show
September 29, 2007We’ve added another special weekly program to the weekend lineup at SCR. Each Saturday night at 7:30 ET, listen to Saturday Night Country Rock, a three-hour collection of sh*t-kickin’ good old boy rock and roll, with the likes of Lynyrd Skynyrd, 38 Special, Charlie Daniels and many more. And don’t forget DJ’s Choice on Saturday morning and Top Tracks on Sunday morning…more variety from your favorite rock station, Sunshine Classic Rock.
Top Tracks Recap
September 15, 2007Check the latest comment below this post to see the Top Ten Tracks for the most recent week, then tune in next Sunday morning for more Top Tracks!
Just a reminder that Top Tracks is on each Sunday morning at SCR, when we play the top-ranked tracks of the week, according to your thumbs-up ratings. The first three Top Tracks had three different top-rated songs…the first week was “Come Sail Away” by Styx, the second week of Top Tracks had Van Morrison’s “Domino” at number one, and last week ELO topped the list with “Evil Woman.” Is there another top track lurking to unseat Jeff Lynne and company this Sunday? Tune in to Top Tracks this Sunday to find out. The show starts at 10 am EDT, and the top ten usually plays between 12 noon and 1 pm. Then listen to SCR next week and help decide with your ratings the songs featured on the next Top Tracks.
Broadcasting Live!
August 28, 2007Sunshine Classic Rock will be broadcasting live off and on for the next several days and over the weekend. This is part experiment and part gift to listeners. It’s an experiment in that we’re not sure whether this will be permanent, depending on our subjective sound quality and reliability judgments and your listenership. As to the gift part, well, if you’ve listened the last day or so, you’re probably wondering where the commercials went. Live365 does not insert commercials in live streams! All you will hear is music and the “reel” interesting station ID’s. Hope you enjoy! One problem to note…if it’s necessary to switch out of live and back to automated operation, any listeners at the time will be dropped. If that happens, just wait a few moments and tune back in. Playing Favorites Weekend
August 10, 2007This weekend, something not so different…We have a shorter playlist starting at about 6 pm (EDT) Friday night and continuing through early am Monday. We’ve taken out about one-third of the tracks in the normal playlists. The songs you will hear on Playing Favorites Weekend are the tracks that you the listeners have rated highest. We’ll do this every month or so, with a shorter weekend playlist based on the highest rated songs. Obviously, “Stairway to Heaven” is NOT on the playlist this weekend.
When we get back to normal on Monday, the playlists will expand again, but we plan to replace some of the lower rated tracks with new songs. And I will probably put “Stairway to Heaven” back on.
Until then, enjoy the Playing Favorites Weekend on SCR!
